I think it is ADO.NET because Microsoft is moving each and every product towards .NET platform, so better option would be ADO.NET so the next version of release won't change that much.

Also you have lot of features in ADO.NET like

1) Disconnected DataSet
2) Typed DataSet
3) XML Processing
4) DataViews, DataReaders etc.,
