Subject: Newbie-Access question-selection of entire field
Posted By: franzwil Post Date: 9/26/2004 1:16:00 PM
I want the cursor to select the complete text box as the cursor moves from text box to text box on a form.  Currently the cursor moves into the box as a blinking line instead.  On currency fields, selecting the entire text box would save the user from having to delete the $0.00 default value in order to enter a new currency amount.  Any ideas?  If anyone can help, thank you in advance!

Try from Menu Bar,  'Tools', 'Options', 'KeyBoard' and select: Behaviour entering field - 'Select entire field'

Ray's suggestion will cause Access to select the entire field automatically when a textbox is entered, but remember two things:

If someone TABS from field to field instead of clicking, Access automatically will choose the entire field anyway.

Whether you tab to the field or click to it, if the entire field is selected (all black), you don't have to delete the zero first before typing your value.  Just start typing.  Because the field is selected, typing will automatically erase what's there first and then start entering your keystrokes.  No need to delete first.
