Does anyone know of any flaws in windows XP for serving web pages.
I have have been wrestling with getting my site accessable from the outside world for ages. After removing the software firewall and getting everything up and running, the site seems to only be available at its own will.
Yesterday I could access it from work with no problems at all. Today i am getting an error quote:
The gateway could not receive a timely response from the Web site you are trying to access. This might indicate that the network is congested, or that the Web site is experiencing technical difficulties.
I beleive that I'm getting through the firewall and IIS is working because the page is actually being redirected twice in my code. Once from the default website to the virtual directory and then again from the Virtual Directory index page to my Home.aspx page.
As I said this worked yesterday and I've not changed a thing.
Is there any constriction on being logged in to the machine or something like that?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I will investigate anything at this point.

When you say software firewall are you referring to the Windows Firewall?
Are you using an IP address to hit your server?

Yes, I am referring to the windows firewall installed and turned on by default in SP2. I still have the router firewall, which redirects port 80. Rod

If this is the site you are referring to:
www.logicwest.com.au
then I had no problems accessing the site at all.

Oh Man, thank you very much. You are right. There is something wrong with my connection at work. It wont show my page from my home machine.
I have been testing my site each day from work and going completely mad. I have no problem with internet access at work, just wont show my site at home.
Thank you again katsarosj
