How to connect SQL Express in VB .NET/win Appli.

Dear all,
I am using SQL SERVER Express Edition in my local machine (Windows XP SP2). Thru my VB application I am not able to connect to it shows the following error.
"Unable to connect database -It is only possible to connect SQL server Desktop Engine database".
I gave Correct Server name, Username, Password. I am able to get Database name selected the same. "Test Connection" succeeded. but while connecting it shows the above error. Please guide me in this, treat this as a urgent one.
