Hello there this is my first post here.I have for about 2 weeks purchased the begining sql server 2005 programing book of mr. Vieira.From my reading so far it is an excellent book and has helped me a lot.
I am just wondering about the equivalent professional book of mr. Vieira ,cause there is a picture of it on the back of the book and i searched the site but didn't find it anywhere.Will it be released later or am i doing something wrong while searching fot it?

Why does the date keep getting pushed further and further back? I've actually had to recommend other books, published by other companies, for my team's migration to SQL Server 2005 simply because this book has been unavailable. We have the 2000 edition and love it, but we just can't wait for November. We've been waiting and waiting and waiting.
I do think that it bears repeating that some teams who are migrating to SQL Server 2005 may not want to wait to migrate until this book comes out. It doesn't help that the BOL really STINKS in this version of SQL Server. Seems like MS is really skimping on the help files because with every version of every application, they get worse and worse and worse. So...the book would REALLY help, but unfortunately it's not available. So, we ordered our book from Microsoft Press instead. It'll probably be inferior, but it does have one advantage over this book...it's available.

I'm not the editor on the book but I hear enough about it that I can answer:
1. The kind of topics that Vieira wants to cover and the kind of depth he wants to give has meant a late and slow writing process.
2. We know that a lot of companies planning to migrate something as important as SQL Server don't rush right into it in the first year the new version is out. Obviously, you are moving faster than many.
3. We really want this to be a great book that people will still be happy with through the 4-5 year life of SQL Server 2005. As you point out, some of the books you might be able to get now are the ones you just wouldn't be happy with.
All that said, we're moving as fast as we can and this book is getting the most preferential fast treatment.

No, the book ankur_icfai is talking about is probably a similarly named book from another publisher, not Wrox. Wrox's Professional SQL Server 2005 Programming by Vieira is not available anywhere yet.
