XML/Excel DDE live link to HTML

I have a live DDE link setup in Excel and have converted it to XML through MS Excel.
The trouble is when I create an HTML from the XML it only displays the static information from the instant that I create the page.
Do you have any suggestions on how to set up a page that can continuously poll the live DDE data from XML to an HTML
