Subject: Installation problem with crviewer.dll
Posted By: LupoMai Post Date: 1/8/2007 8:11:37 AM
Hello my nickname is Lupo - I'm new in this forum.
Pls excuse my "German English".

Problem description:

When I try to install a VB6 application on another PC I get the error message "File '1' can not be registered since it could not be found".
I finish the installation but do not remove the files !!!
Afterwards, after copying the databsase, I start the application - the main screen is shown - but after I hit a bottom, the message "Component 'crviewer.dll' or one of its dependancies not currently registered" is displayed - the application finishes.
I use Crystal Reports XI.
Question 1: What is the missing file name ment by file '1' at the end of the installation ?
Question 2: Which dependencies are to be activated if the crviewer shall be used to display predefined reports ?

Currently the following dependencies are activated:

Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Library 11.0
Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer Design and Runtime Library 11.0
Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer Runtime Library 11.0
Crystal Common File Dialog Library 11.0
Crystal Reports Print Control Type Library 11.0
Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Export Library 11.0
Crystal Reports Common Object Model Library 11.0
Crystal Reports Controllers Library 11.0

On my development PC Windows XP, Service Pack 2 is installed. My installation CD for distribution is created by usin the Packaging and Distribution Assistent of VB.
So far I had now problems in using this software.
Before, however, I had been using Windows 98 - does this make a difference ?
Who can help in finding out the reason (file name) for the error message at the end of the installation.
What dependencies are to be activated ?

I hope, this forum is much better than others I have tried before in solving this problem.
Best regards - Lupo
