Using Custom Code Inside Dataset

I've built a report that uses multiple datasets. Everything has been fine but now I have to modify the where clause of all of these datasets and I was wondering if there was a way to use the custom code (Report Properites -> Code). I'm trying to create a public variable in the custom code and use it in the where clause of the dataset. Is this something that can be done?
