I am reading and trying to learn Dreamweaver, I have both version 6 and version 7. When following the book on page 56, adding metadata to a web page, ...in version 6 it works just as it is suppose to. However in version 7 I get an empty page properties error. What do I need to do different in version 7?
Thanks for the help!!!

Hi there,
Can you describe more closely how you ran into this error? Things work fine on my 2004 version.
Here's what I did to get the desired results (similar to the book's example):
1. Create a new HTML page 2. Switch to Design View (otherwise your meta tags will end up in odd places) 3. Make sure the Insert bar is visible 4. Open the HTML category of the Insert bar. 5. Click the down arrow of the second icon on the Insert bar and choose: Keywords. 6. Add the required keywords 7. Repeat step 5 and 6 for the Description item.
Both your keywords and description meta tags should end up in the <head> section if the document.
What kind of document did you test this on? I tested it on a completely empty document as well and even then it worked.....
Cheers,
Imar

Imar,
Thanks for the help. I did what you said, and it was how I was doing it...but when I just tried it I got an error saying that dreamweaver had created an error and would shutdown, log file being created.
Well I can't seem to find the log file it created.
Still looking..
be back soon..
Don

File type was basic html with xhml compliant. I tried a new document with just html and went to put the keywords in and it still says dreamweaver.exe has generated errors and will be shut down, log file being created.
I may have to try a new install of the program.

Hmmm, this is really weird. It runs just fine here, with the doc type you specified.
Indeed reinstalling may help. In the past, reinstalling fixed some issues for me as well, although Dreamweaver (MX and 2004) have some weird bugs that won't go away with reinstalling. Let's hope this is not one of those.
Good luck,
Imar
