Hello All,

I have recently purchased the Beginning Applescript book with the goal of writing Scripts that would help my workflow. Something I really would like to know how to program is:
1. Opening the System Preferences
2. Choosing the sound folder
3. Changing the sound output

Is this something AppleScript is capable of? Would anybody out there be able to help me with this?

Also for simple workflows I'd probably start out in Automator before delving into AppleScript. In fact if necessary you can add simple AppleScripts as Automator Actions.

I can't help you myself, but have you considered the excellent program they have at Apple stores, called one-on-one? Ask, before you sign up, if they have someone with Automator experience on staff. If they do, it's like having a tutor for an hour every day, for $99 a year.
