I have inherited a large Access application (running under Access 97)
which uses queries, forms and reports in one .mdb file linked to data in
numerous .mdb files in other directories. The person who set it up gave
users read, write, create, modify, erase, file scan, access control and
supervisor rights to the directories containing the data. Does anyone
have any experience with what access is really needed? I hate to start
experimenting on my 250 users without knowing what I'm doing and why,
but we've had folders move around recently and need to shut down access
to what is essential only.
Thanks for any help or comments,
Beverly

Without knowing the actual database files and how they are used, I recommend
leaving all except Supervisor. To restrict any other rights can possibly
lock users from accessing data.
