I seem to remember doing this using the index/key setting in a prev ver
of Access and forgot how I did it but I have
lets say an Invoice Header table linked to a Invoice Detail table using
invoice number as they key
On my line items or detail table I have an autonumber
I want on a given invoice view ( any invoice of many )
to have within the items a number 1, 2, 3, ect.
At this point which is not correct I have the physical autonumber for
the line item so the second
invoices first detail line starts were the first invoice line left off.
I still need the unique autonumber and would like to store the number
within a given invoice for other calculation and query purposes.
Again I seem to remember a compound key or index in Access 2.0 but I
forgot the details and could'nt find
a reference to it in the manuals and some third part books.
Thanks
Brian
