Hi all,
I'm getting an error message when trying to import a Microsoft Excel
spreadsheet into Access 97. The error message reported by Access 97 just
after I try to import is as follows: External table isn't in the expected
format.
The spreadsheet (.xls) I'm trying to import is being sent to me daily and
it is the same story every day. I found one remedy that doesn't help me
with automation. If I open the spreadsheet with Excel and simply save it
and try importing again, all works well without a glitch. Does anyone
have ideas?
Thanks,
Don

My guess is that the person sending it to you is using either Excel 2000 or
an older version of Excel. Then when you save it in your version, the
database can read it because it is now compatible.

Why don't you import the spreadsheet as a text file, I had the same problem
and changed it to import a text file... It seems to work at the minute and
have been using this way for a couple of weeks now...
