access thread: Access 97 to SQL Sever Connectivity

I am a newbie, so bear with me, hopefully this is clear...
I am using an Access 97 front-end DB for manual data collection in an
operating environment. I am using SQL Server 2000 as a back-end db. I
want to replicate to the SQL Server db as a pull subscriber to the Access
97 front-end. How do I make the Access db a publisher? I have registered
the access db as a linkewd server, but it doesn't appear when I try to
connect for replication.
HELP!!

How confident are you that it's possible to get A97 to subscribe to a SQL2K
publication? I don't know, but A97 was released early enough before SQL2K
that I wouldn't be surprised if it were hard-coded to expect version 7 of
SQL server. I believe even A2K requires a patch before it's access data
projects will work against a SQL2K back-end.
(BTW, you might try posting to a SQL server list or newsgroup & see if you
don't get good advice there.)

Roy -
Thanks for the response. I am not confident at all...that is part of the
reason that I posted the question. I also posted to a SQL list and got no
response.
Are you saying that the best thing I could do is use A2K to publish? I
was under the impression that any ODBC compliant data source could be
linked to SQL Server - is this wrong?

Well...I'm not saying that--I'm afraid I don't really know anything about
SQL Server replication. I was just thinking the versions might be an issue.
The best I can advise is pore over the BOL for a step-by-step description of
setting up an Access subscriber. You might also try posting in
news://microsoft.public.sqlserver.replication.
Good luck!
