access thread: Works with Access, not with Runtime.

Message #1 by PStreeter@C... on Mon, 18 Mar 2002 14:03:27 CST
I developed an application in Access2000 for a group of
users in my office, ran the P & D wizard, and installed the
package on the first user's workstation and it fails when
an attempt is made to add a record. The message is that
the record with the required key values dosn't exist. But
it does exist; it is displayed on parent form. I installed the
package on a computer in our department and it works fine
(using runtime.) I suppose the problem is a missing dll but
I can't spot it. With runtime there is now debug button with
the error message.

Anyone have a clue on this.

Did you create an MDE file and package that? I found that distributing a
compiled version of the database solved a whole host of weird problems.

Yes, I did. Also, eventually it began working for no particular
reason I can figure out. Don't they say that a Microsoft
programmer, finding a flat tire on his car, will start it and
drive it again and see if the tire is still flat?
