First, thanks to John Ruff for his suggestions on my last query to the
list---a modification of what he sent worked like a charm.
And now, on to current strangeness:
Something very weird just started happening with a form that I created a
couple months ago. It has been operating just fine until today. I have a
mouse with a scroll wheel, which I use liberally as opposed to using the
scroll bars on the window. Today, when in the form, I absent-mindedly
twirled the scroll-wheel---just a little bit, maybe a couple clicks---and
the data on my form started flying through all the records. In the lower
left-hand corner of the screen Access said that the database was
"calculating" and it appeared to be scrolling through all 942 records at a
very fast pace. When it got to the last record, it started scrolling
backwards through the records until it got back to the first one, then it
stopped. I moved the scroll wheel again, and it started doing it again. I
closed my form, not saving anything, and shut down / rebooted. When I
opened the form again and moved the scroll-wheel on my mouse, it did it
again!
I have never noticed this happening before---and I am a heavy scroller so it
seems unlikely that I would not have come across this before.
The only thing I did in the form today was to add a new subform. I checked
the event properties of both the form and the new subform to see if any
weirdness had inserted itself there---but I have no events set up for
either.
Has anyone ever seen such a thing?

Shelley,
In the form (and sub form properties) check the setting on the Other tab
for Cycle.
I usually set it to Current Record.
This should solve the problem.
This 'scroll' action can also be achieved with various keyboard
combinations but I can't remember which - possibly shift/tab for back
and tab for forward.
Regards
Paul

Unfortunately, this did not work (I was so hopeful, too!). The setting on
the Other tab *was* set to "all records". I changed it to "current record"
as per your suggestion, then saved and closed the form. I re-opened the
form and tried the scroll thingy again---same problem!!
Still bewildered...
