access thread: odbc driver error

Message #1 by "Sharon Buggle" <s.buggle@w...> on Thu, 21 Mar 2002 21:10:50
Hi,

I installed this program that is written in vb and access that is not
finished yet. This is a potential job so i need to look at the exe.

The problem is when i try to run it i get the error that i thought i knew
how to handle but not working.

The error is Microsoft odbc driver manager data source name not found and
no default driver found.

I made a dsn but don't i need the name that is used in code to open the
dsn?

But the datasoure is set in the vb properties.

I asked the employer and he said in the past they just added the ms access
97 database.

I want to figure this out without asking him.

if this makes sense please response.

Thanks,
SB

Could someone please respond. From what i saw from the program that
worked in the employer 's office i know the previous programmer used data
bound objects so making a dsn connection through the control panel would
not fix this. Right? I am still getting the message Run time error with a
long number and the text is [ Microsoft odbc driver manager ] datasource
name not found and no default driver specified.

If anyone knows please help!

Thanks,
SB
