access thread: OLE server - can't communicate with

I have created an OLE field in a table into which I wish to Insert an OLE
object. I can insert an Excel document with no trouble. But trying to
insert a Word document produces the error "Can't communicate with the OLE
server. The OLE server is unregistered. To register the OLE server,
reinstall it".
This happens on databases created on two of my computers, but not on the
third computer. I used to be able to carry out this procedure on all three
computers. I don't know what I have done to cause the change and this
error.
Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you may have uninstalled something that has removed a shared
file on the two machines. If you can remember anything that you have
uninstalled since the machines were working then try installing them again
and see if it works.
Hope you get it working,
Regards, Phillip

Thanks Phillip. Problem now solved. Wasn't anything uninstalled at all. It
is a bug with Norton Anti Virus which I installed after the Access
program. According to Symantec there is no known cure other than to switch
off script blocking. Always thought these anti virus programs could be
more problems than they are worth. Thanks again for your interest.
