We have used MS Access as a number crunching tool no data entry .. one user
in a database at a time.. We are having a problem which started last week it
seems to be machine specific. but on multiple machines. I open a database
and go to open a table in and all I get is a white screen. access hangs then
the system crashes.also if I go to close access by using file close menus
the screen goes gray and just sits there.. control Alt delete shows access
not responding.. Access 2000;Windows 98 second edition; some local databases
some on a server... I am afraid to open any more database as I believe the
problem is spreading as I open them. We have up to date virus scans and have
checked the files today. I have tried to repair the files but once you get
to 700m in size I have found the repair and compacting part of Access is
very difficult to complete without hanging the system. any thoughts? My next
thought is to reload Office 2000.
Thanks
Bill

> FYI: the problem had to do with our virus software.. we needed to
uninstall it at the workstations and reload it... we get updates daily and
something must have cause a problem
