access thread: Network access

Message #1 by "Kaufman, Michael" <Michael.Kaufman@a...> on Mon, 26 Aug 2002 11:27:59 -0400
All,

I have an Access XP application that I've been developing. In testing it,
I've had it out on the server to which I have mapped a drive. All has
worked well. Now, in doing some further testing, I've copied it to another
test machine, shared the drive, mapped the drive on my box, and attempted to
open it. However, now Access gives me a rather interesting error:

"Microsoft Access cannot open this file.

This file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site.
Microsoft Access will not open the file due to potential security problems.

To open the file, copy it to your machine or an accessible network
location."

Both the server and this second machine are just regular Network Mapped
drives. What makes the difference here? Anyone else seen this? I checked
the share permissions on the second machine and Full Control is checked on.

Thanks,
-Mike
