access thread: maximum size of access2000 database?

Message #1 by "jicker erni" <jicker@h...> on Sun, 29 Sep 2002 18:33:11
i've heard that an access97 database can only hold around a Gig of data.
is this true? what then is the maximum capacity of an access2000 database?

Access 2000 allows files to 2 gig, but this is misleading, as 2000 uses
unicode strings which take twice as much space so the overall data handling
capacity is the same. Now if you install the MSDE (SQL Server Lite), how
big is your hard drive? You found the limit.

An Access 2000 database has a maximum size of 2GB. I am certain of
this
since I have "hit the wall" several times.
