access thread: Very slow file dialog box

Using Access 2002, whenever I open a file (or link to, or import), the
file dialog box takes about 30 seconds to open each folder. eg, if the
table I'm trying to open is 4 folders deep, it takes 4x30 seconds to see
it. It's as if it is searching a remote network.
I do have a local network, and an ADSL connection, but even if I
disconnect these, the long delays persist.
I also have Access 2000 on the same machine - it doesn't have this delay.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Alister,
Good day.
Try to apply Office XP Update: Service Pack 2 (SP2). Downloadable from
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2002/oxpsp2.aspx
Prior to applying SP2, make sure you have applied SP1 and is downloadable
from http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2002/oxpsp1.aspx
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Maha

May also be the AutoComplete feature that comes with Office. We had a
similar problem with the dialog box that took ages.
Ended up being a registry hack somewhere on MSDN. If you can't find it, let
me know and I'll see if I can't locate it.
EDIT: Found it. Seems strange as the KB article is related to MS Word,
however fixes the problems for all Office apps:

Cheers,
Andrew
