I have ldb files open in notepad (since they are just text documents
anyway), but not mde.
nonetheless, it's easy to make a file type open with a particular app -
all you have to do is (and this does depend somewhat on what version of
Windows yr using, I'm using XP):
go to Windows explorer, go to folder options in the tools menu,
go to file types
scroll down till you get to mde, hit change and then choose Access.

Hai,
Please do the following
1) Start -> Settings --> Folder Options
2)In folder options you will have tabs a) General b) View c) File types
3) Select the file types tab
4) Under Registered file types list box go to Microsoft Access Application
5) In File type details you must have
a) Extension - mdb
b) contentype(MIME) application/msaccess
c) Open with MSACCESS
here you must have problem ie open with must be with textpad.
To rectify
6) click edit button
7) by clicking change icon button you can bring MSaccess icon
8) Default extension for content type must be .mdb otherwise alter that (
ie .mdb)
9) under Actions you will have new and open
10) after editing click OK, come back to previous screen. Verify all the
items in step 5 tally. Then press OK and come out.
Now when you press mdb files it will open in MSAccess only and not in
Textpad.
Please check up.
