Hi,

I am trying do something that sounds simple but isnt - isnt that always 
the way.

Anyway I have a form that has a subform on it, and there is security on 
the database.

What i want to do is basically depending on your security access is for a 
person to come in, if the record is already populated they should not 
have edit access to the main form however they should have edit access to 
the subform. They can have other access however.

I realise i can lock the fields and have various buttons taking you into 
the form e.g. Add Records, Edit Records, View Records, however i am 
trying to avoid this as i want everybody to access the form from the one 
button.

I have been trying to use the On Dirty property of the firm, but this 
only half achieves my aim.

any ideas anyone????
