access thread: Access charts & graphs - your opinion?

Access Gurus, I need your opinion!

I will be creating a bunch of reports with charts and graphs off of
database data and am trying to decide on the best approach. Is Access as
good as Excel in charting and graphing? Is there an ideal way to go?

I know that there is a big difference among the other Microsoft products
in this area. For example, if you need to put a chart or graph into Word
or Powerpoint, it is always best to create in Excel (the "Chart King") and
paste (unlinked) into these other programs than to use the native charting
feature or to embed an Excel file, which are prone to distortion and other
problems.

A million thanks for your thoughts on this!

Hi,

Yes, You can use a graph (as powerful as the one in Excell) in your access
report based on your table/queries.

The graph is actually an object. what you do is in your report,
Select 'Insert', then 'Chart'. In the property (right click on the chart,
then select property), you can select the chart source (your table/query).

You can also include crosstab query (for 3 D Graph).
The graph is exactly like excell, you can select the graph area, do
formatting on the scale, legends ,etc.

cheers
Cindy
