What does the database do when it first opens? Is there an autoexec macro, or a form loaded in the startup program? We need to know
this. Can you open it by holding down the shift key?

Checkout the MS Knowledgebase article 158933.

Use Jetcomp.exe (free download from Microsoft) and try to repair the db.
 If
that doesn't work, "Create a new database and import all the objects
from a
backup copy of the database."

I have found that I can sometimes import into a new db from the corrupt
db
and everthing will work fine (but not always).

Check out the part of the article about updating the Msjt3032.dll file.

There are recovery programs/services that you can purchase/contract with
that may or may not be able to recover the data.

You can check out AccessRecovery at
http://www.officerecovery.com/access/index.htm and AccessFix at
http://www.accessfix.com/. These are two programs that can be purchased
to
recover corrupted data. I've only used the demos myself so I'm not in a
position to suggest one or the other.
