I too have seen many different ways to make the connection...which DSN-less
code is best and most pratical?

Have you asked your new hosts to create a DSN for you?  You might want to
have a look into using a DSNless connection:

in my IIS (local) im using DSN, but its not work on the internet (im
uploading my site to some free asp hosting).
in IIS i use
rs.open sql, "DSN=dsnName"
