I tried to use jdk1.2.2, but when I run tomcat startup.bat in the 
dos window,only just flash, and display the following:
Using CATALINA_BASE:  c:jdk1.2.2\tomcat 4.1
Using CATALINA_HOME:  c:\jdk1.2.2\tomcat 4.1
Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: c:\jdk1.2.2\tomcat 4.1\temp
Using JAVA_HOME:       c:\jdk1.2.2
 
it looks like tomcat server not start up,I think suppose display on the 
screen like tomcat server start and also I tested in the browser when I 
type http://localhost:8080, no page came out. Could someone help me 
figure it out?

Please check the logs in CATALINA_HOME\logs dirctory
Check catalina.out file. It might show the cause of why Tomcat did't startup.
