Could you tell me why I can not do this to gain access to the root of the

site and enter into images folder?



/Images/imagename.gif



the site just can't find the file I'm trying to access.



If I use...



../../images/imagename.gif



...it works. I have seen sites code without the need of adding in '../' to

gain access to a file, namely http://msdn.Microsoft.com and

http://netscape.com.
