asp_ado_rds thread: Where's the data?

I've read 4 or 5 answers to this question on the p2p asp_ado_rds list.
No one seems to have an answer to this common problem. Is there a clear
set of steps to take to make this technology work? I'm running
Windows 2000 Pro with SQL2000 Pro. The MSADC virtual directory exists
and the security setting in I.E 5.5 are set appropriately.
Thanks
Alan

Thanks for the help. I ran through the list and made the changes as needed,
however, problem persists. One thing which may or may not be
relevant is that I use Microsoft Development Environment to create and
modify my .asp files. Whenever I open the file which contains the
<object> tags to create the DSO I get a the following message in a
dialog box: "An object has failed to load. The object will be displayed
as text."

That does not affect your code at all. That message comes up any time you
have an object tag in your code. Here's one more suggestion:

Hope this helps
