Thanks for the help.I would like to ask one more question regarding 

configuring SMTP on windows 2000.

My situation is this: 

I am right now using a component for making use of mailing facilities.But, 

i would like to discard it and use CDONTS alone.

My windows 2000 server is not a mail server.I am able to send mails using 

CDO, but it is always going to the directory called "Queue" or "Drop" or 

"Badmail" in the InetPub folder.The mails are not moving out of there.

I have a different mail server, but i am not able to comprehend , as to how 

to connect the mail server and my windows 2000 server.

Can you help me out of this?My windows 2000 server has SMTP installed in 

it.I can view the SMTP facility in the Internet services manager.

You need to go in the services and make sure it SMTP mail is running I had

the exact problem until I started the service
