asp_cdo thread: CDONTS- HTML vs. Text - How to link?

Message #1 by "Joseph" <yfridmn@n...> on Sun, 24 Jun 2001 14:30:45
Dear all,

I've been using CDONTS email for a while now and find it's straightforward

and easy to use. I'm now creating a new site and would like to use HTML

based email. The question is:

Does most of the world use email programs that support HTML or am I going

to lose out on a significant number of people?

If I stick with text, can anyone tell me how to create a link with CDONTS?

(What happens now is that when I write something

like "http://www.whatever.com" in the body and you click it, there is no

link to the site.)

Thanks,

Joseph

You should be alright, the majority of email packages do support HTML.

However, not everyone wants to receive HTML emails, for example if they

have

an old computer or a very slow connection. Your best bet will be to

provide

them with an option.

If your worried about those who do not support HTML email...you can use

AspEmail....in version 4.5 you can submit your email both in HTML and plain

text. Allowing those who support HTML to view as HTML and those who do not

will see your alternate plain text version...

see http://www.aspemail.com
