Doesn't SMS have a built-in e-mail notification system? If so, you would

just use your mobile phone's e-mail address and wouldn't have to use

ASPEmail. If it doesn't, what messages are you referring to...pop-up

messages?

The SMS I'm thinking of is Systems Management Services. Its used for remote

administration of machines and remote deployment of software.

If I understand the original poster correctly s/he is talking about the

"Short Messaging System". This is a standard implemented in the European

mobile phone systems standard (GSM) used to send pager messages either

between cell phones or from an Internet gateway or mail system to the

cell phone and vice versa.

Though, I don't have an answer for the question :-(

Hi,

As far as I know, SMS is a feature that mobile phone operator's give which

enables you to receive upto 160 characters as text on your handset. It

stands for Short Message Service. ICQ enables you to send SMS to any

mobile phone in the world (as long as the operator is registered with

them) through the internet for free. Check it out.

Regards,

Farhan.

What you're thinking of is "Systems Management Server" which is a

Microsoft

product for network administration, part of the BackOffice suite of

applications.

Certainly the SMS being referred to in this thread is the mobile phone

text

messaging service.

Sorry, this isn't something I've done before... I have seen it before

on

these lists though, so if you search the archives you should find

something.

as for setting the length to 255 chars, if its an input field you can

set

the 'maxlength' attribute, although i'm not sure if that works in

Netscape.

If its a text area then you can do something like have an onkeypress

method

that counts the number of chars every time a key is pressed and doesn't

allow more than 255 to be entered.
