asp_databases thread: MySQL - I really need some info

Message #1 by "Pat Waddington" <paw@s...> on Wed, 24 May 2000 21:30:00 +0100
Dear All,

I am desperately trying to get the lowdown on MySQL.

I have just completed the first phase of a rather large and complex

website and was all geared up to publish it when the Hosting Service

informed me that they do not support Access, but I have to use MySQL

instead.

I use two Access 97 databases, PWS, Frontpage 98 and ASP for the

website. I established the DSN's as Microsoft Access Drivers using the

32-bit ODBC that comes with Windows 98. Everything works absolutely fine

on my development system.

I understand that I can link my Access databases to the MySQL database

that the Hosting Service will set up at my request. I have downloaded

the relevant ODBC drivers, but do not know into which folder I should

install them. Nor do I know how to do the linking. The documentation is

not very clear and I don't seem to be able to find what I need to know.

Finally, the ASP question! I presume I will have to change the DSN's I

have coded in my ASP pages. Where will I get the correct name from?

I'm really at sea with this, as I have never encountered this situation

before, and ANY help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Pat
