Thanks to everyone's help here I'm almost ready to publish my first Web
application. I've been developing using an Access database, but I think I
should upgrade to another db before going live. I've been using includes
for connection strings and standard SQL throughout so this shouldn't be a
problem.
Two of the ISPs I've shortlisted for hosting the site only support MySQL
and FoxPro. I'm not sure if either of these are ideal for ASP 3.0 and an
expandable database system. We're not talking massive usage here. Perhaps
no more than 100 users in a day, so no more than a few concurrently, but
I'm scared that Access won't be able to handle a particularly busy day.
Does anyone have any preferences between these two systems. MySQL seems a
little support-light in this situation (ie, Windows 95-2000 development). I
used to use FoxPro a few years ago (it wasn't multi-user then), and it
might be easier to convert Access to FoxPro. Licensing costs needn't be an
issue with either of them.
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Cheers,
Steve Owen
