My College server administrator sent me the message below. What can I do
to get the Unix machine execute my asp scripts. Any advice? Dietmar
Active Server Page is Microsoft's alternative to CGI scripts. I think it
uses VB script. We don't have any Microsoft products on our Solaris-based
web server. Some folks have set up databases on the server using
CGI/Perl/MySQL.

ask him to set up PHP (www.php.net) ... otherwise, you're stuck using
Perl... the other option you may have is asking him if the College will
pick up the tab for ChilliSoft's ChilliASP product...
Good luck!

Most likely all you could do would be rewrite the scripts in perl or cgi.

Unless you have access to the mod_asp module for apache, or that ChiliSoft
thing (Might even be the same thing) then you're stuffed. ASP is only
available on IIS and PWS without extending the server.
Use Perl anyway. Its better than anything else on the planet. And it can
connect to any database on the market.

Thanks to all of you out there. I guess I need to learn yet another
programming language. Dietmar
