Hi
An upgrade to MDAC 2.5 from MDAC 1.5 stopped access to dBase tables working dead in its
tracks.
The full story of this is told in a post in proasp_howto entitled MDAC 2.5 - A Killer (did not
get any useful advice from that post)
Having got a seriously major site not working and not being able to get it working for three
days, my ISP found another server that was still running MDAC 1.5 and allowed me to copy the
site to there. (What a major exercise that was !!!)
It now works OK on there BUT the ISP wants the site back on the original server - so the
problem needs to be solved.
MS TechNet acknowledges that the upgrade will stop the dBase access in ASP files from
working. It very helpfully says that we should install and use the BDE (Borland Database
Engine) - Well I know about dBase and BDE - BDE was already installed but I installed the very
latest version.
I know that the BDE is there - I can see it, feel it, touch and modify it !!!
Sadly the ODBC driver used by ASP files does not appear to know it is there though !!
Hours have been spent playing with the ODBC thing from the control panel - all to no avail.
Any help that anyone can give will be gratefully received

PS - Please do not suggest JET version 4 (see an earlier post from me with that title) - in
another area (MS Newsgroups) where I posted the same query - I was told that JET is for MS
Access only - not dBase
Ever feel like you were going around in circles ??? <VBGTTT> (Very Big Grin Thru The Tears)
