Having reached Chapter 12 of BEGINNING ACTIVE SERVER PAGES 3.0 I was
surprised to learn that I need MS Access or Visual Studio to proceed
further. These were not listed as requirements in the Introduction (p. 4
"What Do I Need to Use this Book?"
Can I still do the exercises with another ODBC source, such as Lotus
Approach or FileMaker (which I all ready have on my system)? If so, how?

You can use any ODBC source. Search the archive here (http://p2p.wrox.com
the search box is at the top of the page, enter a list name to limit the
search to that list.) and you might well find an example for Filemaker or
Approach. There are some useful links in the ASP FAQ at
http://p2p.wrox.com/asp/faq.asp .

If you search for Lotus Approach or FileMaker on this site you get only a
few hits yielding no useful information about my question.
