I was in the same boat as you. What I did was follow the Book-Tree on the
back of BegASP 3.0. You could go directly to ProASP 3.0, but I felt it was a
big leap. Congratulations on learning ASP and loving it...I did and I do
too.

I stopped reading the first book when I got to the chapter on COM. I
bought Professional ASP 3.0, but I've been reading books on dynamic
Dreamweaver, which cover ASP, PHP and ASP.NET. I also bought the Wrox
programmers references on ASP 3.0, VBScript, and ADO 2.6. A couple
others that are good are ASP Internals (I'm not sure it's still in
print), and Designing Active Server Pages. I also liked ASP Databases
from Wrox.

Hi
After finshing the book "Begining ASP 3.0 " do you feel confirtable
starting a web site and to apply your knoledge in practic?
Because I've read 98% of it I like it very much, however, I don't know how
much I would be able to do the work on my own like what you would want
when the web server starts in the global.asa etc.
Thanks
Abraham

In my reply, I should have mentioned that I got a job programming web
pages when I was about half way though the "Beginning ASP 3.0" book.
There are three programmers where I work and they all know how to code
with ASP 3.0. Just reading the book doesn't give you a lot of
experience. After I started working with ASP 3.0 and had three other
programmers I could go to with questions, it started making a lot of
sense to me.

The one thing that I've discovered is that to be good with ASP, or any
programming language, you have to use it every day. If you don't what you
have learned will go away and you will have to back-track and relearn it all
over. That is a waste of time. I've gone through BegASP 3.0 twice and I
learned new things each time. So, in answer to you question; Would I feel
confident to do the things in BegASP 3.0, on a for-pay basis? Probably not.
I would like to see more server's out there that support it. Unfortunately
I'm busy with other things and can't dedicate my day to programming. If I
could dedicate 3-4 hours a day instead of weekends then all would be good.
Good Luck!
