A while back I activated my computer to act as a server. I think the
program was "iis" (but not sure). I am not working with the server
(i.e., using my computer as a server) now and would like to turn it off
so it does not add a load to my processing time,(computer seems to run
real slow since then). How do I do that?
Thanks for your help

U dont want ur IIS to start up with ur login or system boot,is it?
If u r using W2k/Win NT then, u can set the IIS startup to manual from
the SERVICES. It is prob set to automatic.
Check it out.

Hi,
Assuming you're running Windows 2000 Pro.
Click on Start > Program Files > Administrative Tools > Services.
This loads up the Service window.
At the bottom of this, you'll see a service named:
--> World Wide Web Publishing Service
Double-click on the service name to open its properties.
About mid-way down the properties window is a drop-down box with Start-up
options. I expect yours is set to 'Automatic'.
Change it to 'Disabled'
You can also do this to the IIS Admin Service too.
Reboot your computer and see if that helps.
Regards
Craig
