asp_web_howto thread: DNS PROBLEM In IIS 5.0

Hi everybody,
I am running Windows 2000 Server on my machine and
want to create a DNs so that instead of typing http://localhost I should
type d.com like that or www.d.com . I have tried all but is unable to
create DNS and establish a Active Directory.
Please help as I have tried my best reading many books, but they only
suggest on Internet or Intranet.

hmm...answering with a question, does LMHOSTS still exist with Windows2000 ?
In the old NT 4.0 days, you could place a file in
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC with an entry :
127.0.0.1 www.d.com <http://www.d.com> #PRE
something like this however....

I think you wont be able to assign a domain name to your computer without
registering it.
