asp_web_howto thread: How many rows can be insert into MS Access

Message #1 by "Anthony Delcy" <DELCYAN@l...> on Thu, 29 Mar 2001 10:04:28 -0500
Hi,

I know you guys don't deal with MS Access but I am giving a try anyway.

How many entries can be inserted into MS Access 97. Ex: lines and rows of

data.

My guest would be about 25 000 rows to 30 000 rows. I maybe wrong. Does

someone happens to know this please let me know.

Thank you

Anthony

Close but not quite - if I understand you - you've created a page

in VID and added it to the FP generated web?

>(www.yourfriendinflowers.com/wedview.asp?book=3Dtwsg) all the data on

this

Yup.

The images don't display. You see the placeholder for them but

they don't load in the users browser.

Dumb isn't it?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
a) Install mySQL
b) Install the ODBC driver for mySQL
c) Create connection string using OLEDB Provider from ODBC Drivers
d) Use ADO to open a connection based on the above
NOTE: If you can find a native OLEDB Provider for mySQL that would probably
be better, but I don't that the mySQL people see that as a priority.
never used it myself.. I happen to work for a company that spend money on
everything but my paycheck...
I know there are people in here that use it, and from what I've heard its
pretty much the same as SQL
Well as this is an ASP list, I imagine we all swing the Microsoft way here.
SQL server can be very expensive though, so ultimately it depends on
budgetary constraints.
If you want to work for big companies with lots of money to spend, learn the
Microsoft stuff as that is invariably what they use (although of course
Oracle is probably the prefered database platform where the budgets are
really big).  if you want to work for yourself or for small start-ups, go
the linux way.
You've got to make up your mind whether you want to be a developer or a
support analyst... sure we all do a bit of both, and understand issues on
both sides, but everyone's got their forte.  If you want to be a developer
then concentrate on learning how to write good efficient code, and leave
things like operating system stability and server resiliency to the support
guys to worry about!
Depends what kind of brain you've got... if you're a "techie" with an
analytical brain go for networking, if you thrive on creativity go for
development...
I think we've lost the original conversation thread by a long way by now!
then concentrate on learning how to write good efficient code, and leave
things like operating system stability and server resiliency to the support
guys to worry about!
Well as this is an ASP list, I imagine we all swing the Microsoft way here.
SQL server can be very expensive though, so ultimately it depends on
budgetary constraints.
If you want to work for big companies with lots of money to spend, learn the
Microsoft stuff as that is invariably what they use (although of course
Oracle is probably the prefered database platform where the budgets are
really big).  if you want to work for yourself or for small start-ups, go
the linux way.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

: so you can use mysql with asp?

:

: i am kinda interested in linux, but i know windows...somewhat

:

: how would i go about accessing mysql from an asp?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
a) Install mySQL
b) Install the ODBC driver for mySQL
c) Create connection string using OLEDB Provider from ODBC Drivers
d) Use ADO to open a connection based on the above
NOTE: If you can find a native OLEDB Provider for mySQL that would probably
be better, but I don't that the mySQL people see that as a priority.
Cheers
Depends what kind of brain you've got... if you're a "techie" with an
analytical brain go for networking, if you thrive on creativity go for
development...
I think we've lost the original conversation thread by a long way by now!
very true... i am trying to decide that as well :-) decisions decisions
decisions:-)
i like networking.. but i also like coding... so im kinda stuck....
i am going through a book for MCSE 70-216..(just to clear up my head on DNS,
DHCP, NAT, and all that stuff) and i get to help configure a router next
week.. so i guess ill get a very mild taste of networking.... ill come up
with something soon.. and head straight for that:-)
You've got to make up your mind whether you want to be a developer or a
support analyst... sure we all do a bit of both, and understand issues on
both sides, but everyone's got their forte.  If you want to be a developer
then concentrate on learning how to write good efficient code, and leave
things like operating system stability and server resiliency to the support
guys to worry about!
