Hi guys !
I use to test my applications on my local server (IIS), before uploading to
the web.
I don't know what happened but it suddenly stopped responding and displaying
the content it used to show.
It simply doesn't give any response at all while the status bar indicates
"opening the page http://localhost" but it takes forever, and doesn't manage
to open the page.
When I stop the server (through mmc), it stops searching for the page and
displays an error message.
I uninstalled IIS and installed it again, nothing changed !
Any guess ?
-------------------------------------------
I had the same problem when someone hacked my server a while ago ( take care
with security-UNICODE and other ****s )
I had to swith Aplicattion Protection to low (Home Directory)
Be sure to have OK all the settings there and of course script read and
script executing permissions.

Try going to your START toolbar, hover until you get IIS running icon, right
click and do a properties. The MAIN should have a STOP button to indicate
IIS is running and 2 hyperlinks. The top should have your homepage available
at http://yourfullcomputername and the bottom should be your directory
(normally c:\inetpub\wwwroot) To check yourfullcomputername go to START,
settings, control panel. Choose system and Identification. I had problems
with localhost and used the computer name and it worked.

Along those lines, if you changed any NT file or directory permissions, you
could cause the server to not be able to execute a script. I did this on a
production server and found out the hard way. Fortunately it was only
entertainment functionality not e-business.
