ActiveX Controls or ActiveX objects?

For example, could I do this in Netscape:

var oxml = new ActiveXObject("MSXML2.DOMDocument")

or is JScript only?

Netscape does not see ActiveX anything. I have heard that there is a plugin

floating around somewhere that allows Netscape to use ActiveX technology,

but I've never seen it.
