Try using MS Index Server 2.0 - it works great for me.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnindex/htm

I was interested in the information as well so I cut and pasted the URL into

my IE address line. Unfortuately in the email response the URL was wrapped

to the next line and the second line info did not paste into the address of

IE.

I had to do it twice. Highlight line 1 - Ctrl-C go to new ie window paste

(Ctrl-V) from the email highlight line 2 and copy and paste. Use Refresh

button if it does not come up right away.

Sincerely

Phil Hamm

How do I use the index server? Is there something I

load to root. Is there any documentation on how to

configure it and use it? I couldn't find what I was

looking for on Microsofts site. Or - I don't know

what I'm looking for?

Had already tried that, but must have been a muppet, as it works fine now!

Thanks

I'm not the world's best web server admin, but I think it loads with IIS.

Infact, it creates a sample directory that you can expirement with to see

how it works. Under a typical install, the directory would be called

"issamples" with a default page of "default.htm". See if you can find that

directory on your IIS server (probably under the "inetpub" dir). Also, do a

general Internet search for "Index Server" from altavista or internet.com.

You should find server articles explaining more about it and coding

examples.

The guts of the code uses teh following 2 lines of code:

Set objQuery = Server.CreateObject("ixsso.query")

Set objUtil = Server.CreateObject("ixsso.util")

and the rest are parameters passed to the objects properties to specficy

search criteria:

objQuery.Query=myquery

objQuery.Columns = "VPath, DocTitle, Filename, Characterization, Contents,

DocKeywords, Rank"

objQuery.SortBy = "Rank [d]"

objQuery.MaxRecords = 200

objQuery.LocaleID = objUtil.ISOToLocaleID("EN-US")

("myquery" listed above is your keyword search value from the form)

Then you create a recordset:

Set rsTemp = objQuery.CreateRecordset("nonsequential")

Then create a loop to display the results of the columns where each field is

referenced as rstemp("Vpath") and rsTemp("DocTile").  I found a great

example at:

http://www.learnasp.com/learn/indexserver.asp
