Hi,
I am interested in creating a discussion group/bulletin group on our
intranet. I am going to want employees to be able to create a post, reply
to a post, search a category, and etc.. Oh I also would like the user
informed when there is a new post.
I have seen tons of sites using discussion groups even this one, but I am
not sure how to create one.
Any suggestions?

Have a look at http://www.webwizguide.com/ or http://forum.snitz.com/ both
v popular pre-built ASP discussion formums.
