Hi Simon Hill,

Sorry to bother u. However, I would like to seek for your kindly advice
concerning the upload method of files through the use of ASP.

We are planning to develop a web site to our agency force. Part of the web
site is an area for them to dl some files from the server. However, I can't
decide what's the best practice to do so. Upload the file to a database as
binary data? Upload to a file directory? Any security concern?

Look forward to hear from you.

Regards,

Yu

Subject: [asptoday_discuss] Safeguarding uploads to server

Dear all,

What is the best way of safe-guarding uploads from a FILE HTML form control?
I wish to allow users to upload files, but I want to be able to limit the
length and preferably, the type, e.g. only Word documents.

any help would be much appreciated,

Simon Hill
