aspx thread: .NET Beta1 on Win2000 Server

When trying to Install .NET Beta1 on Win2000 SErver at home I am
constantly getting this message:
"
Following components Installations failed:
MS Frontpage Extensions Server QFE &
MS .NET Framework SDK (W2K)
VS.NET 7.0 cannot continue until the components listed aboove are
installed.
"
Can any one please help me how to resolve this issue. I have even
installed SP2 for Win2000 Server.

I had the same problem with Win 2000 professional. Try uninstalling the SP2
as well as the existing Front Page extentions (as they are probabley newer
than the ones that .net is trying to install)
Of course you could also try the beta2 which might just work with SP2!

The FrontPage QFE is a post SP1 hotfix, which is already fixed in SP2. If
you have SP2 installed, you can't install the FPSE QFE, hence the
installation bombs.
Your options are to uninstall SP2, and run the whole setup again - this will
update to SP1. Then install VS.Net beta 1, then install SP2.
Alternatively, there is a setup.exe somewhere on the VS.Net CD that allows
you to skip the Windows Component update (only run this if you are sure that
you have all your components updated)
Alternatively, you can use the VS.Net beta 2 which works with SP2

I have the same problem. We need to find a way to make MS give to us stuff
that works!!! or at least help us better with all this kind of problems.

The problem is that you installed SP2. Someone posted a registry hack,
also
you can uninstall SP2, or you can reformat and start over. It is Beta,
a

Beta 1 is no longer supported, you should be installing Beta 2 and I think
beta2 plays nice with SP2. You will be doing a big disservice to yourself
and losing valuable time by learning Beta 1 there are too many major changes
between b1 and b2.
