Hello,
Does anyone @ Wrox or Microsoft care to comment about how many changes are
going to occur from Beta 2 to the RTM version of ASP.NET. I am wondering
due to the fact that we have had a similar discussion in the c_sharp forum
about the changes to expect and a spokes person from wrox mentioned that the
team handling C# and the .NET Framework @ Microsoft were not expecting any
changes for the RTM release. Is this the same for ASP.NET? Are the class
library's going to change much?
Thanx,

Albert,
Speaking as someone who works for Wrox, I can say we're not
expecting any changes between beta2 and RTM. Having said that when the
Quickstart tutorials install, they install to an aspplus folder, and I
expect things like this to be ironed out to become the aspnet folder.
As for
major class and library changes though, we're not expecting any.
Talking to the ASP.NET guys at Microsoft we get the impression they'd
release the product right now if they could. They consider it as good
as
finished. I think what's holding them back is the intention to release
Visual Studio.NET and .NET Framework at the same time. Certainly I'd
expect
more changes in Visual Studio.NET between beta 2 and RTM than I would
in
ASP.NET, but yet again the word is, not much will change there either.
Also
they're encouraging people to go live with ASP.NET beta 2 apps right
now -
as indeed several MSDN sites have, which must be a good indicator.
However, one last word of warning, being a beta if they find a big bug
or
hole, they might be compelled to fix it and make whatever changes are
necessary. They're shouldn't be any though, it looks pretty solid to
me.
Chris
