aspx thread: Windows ME Compatibility

Message #1 by "Joe Dip****" <joedip****@h...> on Thu, 12 Jul 2001 14:58:52
I'd like to add my disappointment that the development environment

(studio.net) doesn't work on Windows ME. I uninstalled beta 1 last night

from my ME machine and tried to install beta 2 and it told me it wasn't

supported. Any way around this?

Since we are on the topic of beta2, I figured I'd throw in what I know:

The .NET framework (except for ASP.NET) is supported on the following:

Windows 98

Windows 98 SE

Windows ME

Windows NT

Windows 2000 professional/server and XP professional/server support the

ENTIRE framework. The home edition of WindowsXP doesn't quite support

everything (i.e. System.Web).

I know that www.aspalliance.com has beta 2 and mdac 2.7 and does not

appear

to be having any problem with any "legacy" asp/ado code.

On a more serious note - getting back to ASP.NET stuff:

Does anyone know whether MDAC 2.7 is really necessary in order to run

ASP.NET Prem. Edition? Are all other existing non-NET applications still

usable when installing version 2.7 of MDAC?

Cheers,

Wim

System Requirements for VS.Net beta 2 are here:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/nextgen/sysreq.asp

If you downloaded VS.Net because you have an MSDN subscription, you can just

as easily download Win2k Pro

Cheers

Ken
